Beyond the bun: Sustainable support for Rollover Hotdogs
Rollover Hotdogs is a leading hot food-to-go brand with a strong presence in convenience retail, leisure venues, and forecourts across the UK. With a reputation for quality and fast service, Rollover relies on consistently reliable point-of-sale and in-store equipment to deliver their brand promise.
We have been aproud to partner with Rollover since 2011, and as our relationship continues, we wanted to highlight our niche offering that has supported their sustainable POS journey.
The mission
With so many locations across the UK where the displays would be activated, the brand needed a solution where they could create and supply new retail displays quickly but also refurbish existing displays to prolong their in-store lifespan.
Our design team created the initial freestanding tower which the team at Rollover absolutely loved. We then further developed the unit for ease of construction using a ‘flat pack’ style kit of parts, which could also be called upon when refurbishing existing displays.
In 2020, we introduced a new design made from steel with sleek curved edges that offers maximum branding opportunities and in-built storage. The design includes low voltage LED strip lighting that together illuminates the branded header and provides down lights onto the oven by utilising clever placement of mirrors, promising no hotspots or visible ghosting. The new design was also environmentally friendly, as when decommissioned could be dismantled and ultimately recycled.
We have worked in partnership with Rollover not only to deliver impactful in-store campaigning and retail point-of-sale solutions, but also to provide ongoing support through a dedicated Maintenance and Uplift Programme.
This comprehensive approach ensures that Rollover’s brand presence remains strong, reliable, and efficient across all touchpoints.
Maintenance & uplift: Sustainability in action
As part of our service to Rollover, all damaged or non-functioning hotdog units are returned to our warehouse, where they undergo a rigorous refurbishment process:
- Deep cleaned: All units are stripped down and thoroughly sanitised to food-safe standards.
- Tested & repaired: Every component is carefully tested. Our shopfloor team is PAT tested trained. All damaged or worn parts are replaced using our in-house stock inventory.
- Broken down parts: Any damaged parts that cannot be fixed/refurbished is recycled using Veolia.
- Rebuilt & re-sealed: Units are restructured, reassembled, and resealed to perform as new.
- Repacked & redelivered: Finally, refurbished units are packed and shipped back for reinstallation in-store.
This circular approach keeps equipment in use for a longer lifespan, and minimises environmental impact.
Commitment to sustainability & efficiency
Our Maintenance and Uplift Programme supports Rollover’s growth and rollouts while aligning with both companies’ sustainability goals:
- Reduces waste: Extends the lifespan of existing units, meaning less equipment is scrapped or manufactured from scratch.
- Minimises logistics footprint: Centralised refurbishment reduces transport emissions versus sourcing and distributing new units.
- Cost-efficient: Significantly cuts excess expenditure through reuse, repair, and efficient inventory control.
- In-house expertise: Maintenance is handled entirely in-house, ensuring faster turnaround, consistent quality, and controlled logistics.
Shared vision: Supporting growth, sustainably
Our relationship with Rollover is built on trust, agility, and shared values.
By combining high-impact retail execution with long-term equipment stewardship, we help keep their brand not only visible and vibrant, but also responsible and resourceful.
Together, we’re not just supporting hotdog rollouts – we’re supporting a sustainable future for retail operations.
Out in the field
We continue to update the Rollover headers with a fresh, clean look with illumination – to increase shopper engagement, and entice customers to the Rollover unit.
The header text now comprises of 3D text giving is extra theatre, with full illumination of the branding – making it stand out in every retail enivornment. The surround includes the yellow trim to surround the unit, as opposed to the previous design – giving it a fully cohesive look and feel.
We have spotted a few of the new updated units in the wild and wanted to share these with you.
As we get call outs for updates and maintenance, as part of the instruction, our boots on the ground are also installing the new headers upon the same visit. In time, each Rollover unit will become updated and maintain the fresh new look it deserves.
