Latitude Global Volunteering is an international youth development charity.
Their mission is to educate and develop young people worldwide by providing opportunities to volunteer abroad and to make a positive difference to the lives of others through a distinctive, challenging, structured and supported overseas volunteering experience in a culture and community different from their own.
In February Three Point Design donated funds that enabled young volunteer, Grace Birr, to travel to Eastern Cape in South Africa to help promote health & hygiene.
Grace travelled to Joza, Grahamstown and focused on Personal, Food and Environmental hygiene. Grace was a Peer Educator and went to 9 local school and taught over 564 children a week, informing them of the importance of health and hygiene and how they can enforce it into their family and community lives.
The program lasted 10 weeks and all schools were left with resource pack containing lesson plan, basic information, games and ideas on how to turn them into assignment and exams, making the volunteers work sustainable. Grace and the other volunteers were also involved in a community clean up, and 2 other events to promote their work and the work of the charity.
Through the work of volunteers like Grace, and others volunteering abroad, Latitude Global Volunteering give young people the opportunity to experience the world beyond their community and to truly engage with it. They help to develop young people’s awareness and responsibilities towards themselves and others, and equip them with employability and life skills.
Everyone at Three Point Design would like to congratulate Grace for her efforts and the great work carried out by her, and the rest of the Latitude Global Volunteers.
