Congratulations to former Three Point Design Intern, Tom Lewis, who recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University.
Tom Graduated with a 2:1 in BA Product Design, which is a fantastic achievement.
For his final year project, Tom took on the task of redesigning the water jugs, currently used in NHS hospitals around the country.
Tom’s concept was designed to encourage patients to drink more water and stay hydrated, as research has shown that dehydration is an occurring problem in hospitals due to the inconvenience of the current water jugs.
After working with nurses and specialists throughout the NHS, this new alternative solves many of the main issues resulting in a better experience for the patients and making the day to day lives easier for hospital personnel. The approach to this project was to solve the problem now, therefore considerations to costs and manufacturing had to be contemplated as well as constant interaction with nutritionists and dietitians at the QMC, Nottingham, to make this a feasible product.
Once his project was completed, Tom was fortunate enough to exhibit my work at the NTU Degree Show where members of the QMC Hospital could view his product along with potential employers and manufacturers. Tom was also selected amongst others from the university to exhibit at New Designers in London where his project could be viewed by a much larger variety of people in the design industry as well as experts in knowing how to get a product produced and into the market.
Tom has now secured a 2 year contract working at D S Smith as a Design Graduate.
Everyone at Three Point wishes Tom the very best for the future.
